Does anyone know how to convert wav files back to shn or flac files? should I bother or will i lose what they once were?( I dl shows and then convert from flac and shn to wav...and like a dumby I dumped the original files and now want to take burned shows and bring em back to save as data files.)
aside from a long walk off a short pier does anyone have advice?

I use "Shorten for Windows" to transcode from shn <-> Wav. I I found it on the Etree site, I think, when I first started downloading off the Archive. For Flac I use Winamp, but I think you have to pay the $20 to get Winamp Pro. At one time I used "Flac Front End" but its a bit outdated. I would transcode to Flac if I were you since Shn is no longer supported and creates larger files.

as far as coverting those .wav files back to .flac and .shn, yes, this is indeed possibly, using whatever software application of your choice, Traders Little Helper seems to be the one most are comfortable with; however, Flac Front End will work for converting to .flac, and Shorten For Windows for .shn, but as BluMtnMan pointed out, best to convert to .flac as .shn is on its way out; however, i am fairly certain that in the reconversion, the .flac/.shn signature will not be the same as that which existed prior to your converting to .wav and then burning to CD; finally, instead of going through the process of extracting those .wav files from CD and then compressing them into .flac/.shn, wouldn't it be much easier just to download the shows again? if you're referring to GD/JGB shows that you have downloaded, shoot me an e-mail of the shows in question, and i will see if i've got any, and can send you the lossless files to you on DVD disks

put 'em in the same box you used to convert them to wave with-if you used the mkw Audio Compression Tool-
Out poops the shn file (don't know about flac though)
